Straw dogs appeared in Vietnam more than 6,000 years ago. They were domesticated and bred naturally by ancestors in the past, and they are attached to people's daily life.

1. Grass dogs are purebred Vietnamese dogs

This dog breed is purebred, not hybrid, easy to raise, and very popular in our country. There is another saying that the dogs in our north are descendants of red wolves, and the dogs in the south may be Fuguo wild dogs.

Classification of Straw Dogs

There are mainly four types of grass dogs in Vietnam: Lai Dog, Hmong Bobtail Dog, Bac Ho Dog and Phu Quoc Dog.

Lai dog

The Lai dog, also known as the Indochinese wild dog, belongs to the famous hunting dog family in Vietnam. This dog breed has not been identified and is most commonly found in the lower Ma River in Thanh Hoa province. Lai dogs are 43-66cm tall. Their legs are white and short, but very strong. The Lai dog is very intelligent, brave, loyal, and good at finding prey, so it is favored by mountain families for hunting wild animals and guarding houses.

This breed is intelligent, healthy, hardworking, and very disciplined, and will only follow the orders of its owner. Not as aggressive as other hounds, the Bac Ha is calmer and more intelligent.

The Phu Quoc Dog is the "brand name" dog breed of Vietnam. Some documents say that the Phu Quoc Dog originated when the French brought their dogs to Phu Quoc Island and lost them. Their distinctive appearance is a swirl that runs from the top of the shoulder down to the bone. Their feet have a tubular membrane like a propeller. Docile, approachable, and loyal, this breed is a swimmer, fast runner, and hunter of elite game.

 - Over 1 year old: At this time, the grass dog can eat most of the food. You add meat, fish, eggs, vegetables to them as usual.

 - Pregnancy period: If the grass dog is pregnant, you should add more food that is good for its health, feed more milk, and ensure sufficient milk to feed the puppies.

How to Care and Clean a Lawn Dog

Pet dogs adapt quickly to living conditions and environments, so you don't have to worry about taking care of them like other imported breeds.

Regarding bathing, bathe once a week in summer and once every 2-3 weeks in winter. After bathing, it is necessary to dry or dry the body so as not to catch a cold.
